Remember the day when the United States Postal Service made an official release of postage stamps in recognition of celebrating the festival of lights, Diwali? Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), a reputable official in the cause, held a celebration on this historic day and gave recognition to the Indiaspora and a few other individuals for realizing the Indian-American community’s dream of a Diwali stamp in America.

The USPS released its first Diwali stamp on October 6, 2016, and established a first-day sales record. The Diwali Stamp Initiative, in collaboration with Indian-American leaders and groups, involved campaigning at the White House and on Capitol Hill. More than 20,000 letters and postcards were sent to the postal service!
